Terms & Conditions
The terms that govern your use of the SNDA website and services.
Terms & Conditions
Last updated August 2026. The following terms govern your use of the Student National Dental Association website and services.
Acceptance of Terms
By accessing this website you agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions and our policies. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the site.
Membership
Membership in SNDA is subject to eligibility requirements and payment of applicable dues. Membership benefits are non-transferable.
Purchases & Donations
All store purchases and donations are processed securely. Sales of merchandise are final unless otherwise stated. Donations to SNDA, a 501(c)(3) organization, may be tax-deductible.
Intellectual Property
The SNDA name, logo, and all site content are the property of the Student National Dental Association and may not be used without permission.
Privacy
We respect your privacy and handle personal information in accordance with our privacy practices. Information collected through forms is used solely to administer membership and services. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not give it to advertisers or sponsors — SNDA sells advertising space, never member data; see Advertising & Sponsorship. How this website and the member portal use cookies and web tracking is set out in the next section.
Cookies & Web Tracking
When you first visit sndaonline.org or the member portal at portal.sndaonline.org, a banner asks you to choose between Accept and Essential only. Your answer is stored in a single cookie, snda_consent, that is shared by both sites and kept for 180 days, so you are asked once rather than on every visit. Closing the banner with the Escape key is treated as choosing Essential only.
Essential only means that only essential functionality is held: we keep just the storage the website and portal need in order to work, and nothing is sent to Google Analytics. That essential storage is limited to the cookie that records your choice; the session that keeps you signed in to the member portal, and the timestamp that signs you out after an hour of inactivity; draft answers saved in your browser while you complete a portal form, and small display preferences such as whether a filter panel is open; a session-only flag so a pop-up is not shown to you twice; and the security cookies Stripe sets on its own checkout pages when you pay dues, donate, or buy from the store. None of this is used to track you across the web, and none of it identifies you to anyone outside SNDA.
Accept additionally allows Google Analytics to set its own cookies (_ga and _ga_*) so we can see which pages and portal features members actually use. We never send your name, email address, membership number, or any other part of your member record to Google Analytics, and we do not use its data to identify you.
Advertising. SNDA does not use cookies to build a profile of you, to follow you between websites, or to target advertising at you, and we never buy advertising that follows our members around the web. The three Google advertising signals — ad_storage, ad_user_data and ad_personalization — are denied permanently on both sites, whichever button you press, and nothing in our code ever turns them on.
SNDA does, however, sell advertising space to sponsors, and that is a different thing from tracking you. Where SNDA fills that space itself — placements inside the member portal, and in our email — they are ordinary images served from SNDA's own servers: they set no cookies and no outside advertising company is involved. The banner at the top of the home page is the one exception, and it is the only advertising on either site that involves a third party. It is filled by an outside advertising network, Multiview, whose script loads on that page whatever choice you make in the banner above; it may set its own cookies and count how often an advertisement was shown, under Multiview's policies rather than ours. It is confined to the home page, it is labelled “Advertisement”, and if a content blocker stops it loading the whole band simply disappears — nothing else on the page depends on it. See Advertising & Sponsorship for what we do and do not let advertisers have.
A few pages embed content from other services — videos hosted on YouTube and Vimeo, an Instagram feed, and the Whova convention app — and those services may set their own cookies when the embedded content loads, under their own policies rather than ours.
You can change your answer at any time using the Cookie settings link in the footer of any page on this site; because the cookie is shared, a change made here applies to the member portal as well.
Advertising & Sponsorship
SNDA accepts paid advertising and sponsorship. It is one of the ways the organization funds programming that dues alone do not cover. This section sets out what that does, and does not, mean for you.
Advertising is always labelled. Every paid placement is marked “Advertisement” or identifies its sponsor. If it is not labelled, it is not an advertisement — it is SNDA speaking.
Advertisers do not receive your information. We do not give, sell, rent or otherwise disclose member names, email addresses, membership numbers, chapter or school affiliation, or any other part of your member record to an advertiser or sponsor, and we do not let advertisers choose who sees an advertisement on the basis of who you are. An advertiser buys a position on a page. They do not buy an audience list and they cannot single you out. Where we report on a placement we report aggregate counts only.
Advertising does not buy influence. Paying for space does not affect SNDA's editorial content, its programming, its elections, its scholarship or award decisions, or its positions. An advertisement is not an endorsement by SNDA, and SNDA's acceptance of an advertisement is not a recommendation of the advertiser, their products or their services. Any dealings you have with an advertiser are between you and them.
Any advertising inside the member portal is served by SNDA itself. No outside advertising script runs behind sign-in. Where a placement appears there it is an ordinary image hosted on SNDA's own servers: it sets no cookies and it does not track you. Portal placements do not animate, expand, play sound, or interrupt what you were doing, and they never appear on a page where you are voting, paying, or entering personal information. The only placement served by an outside network is the home page banner on this public site, described under Cookies & Web Tracking.
What we will not run. SNDA may decline any advertisement at its sole discretion, and does not accept advertising for tobacco, nicotine or vaping products, anything that misstates its relationship with SNDA or implies an endorsement we have not given, anything unlawful or discriminatory, or anything designed to look like SNDA's own editorial content. Advertisers are responsible for the accuracy of their own claims.
Sponsors and prospective advertisers can find placements, sizes and rates in the sponsor area of the member portal, or contact us.
